OE Embedded Sound

I have OE 6 and Win Xp service pack 2. I understand one can embed sound files into the OE mail by going to "New Message", then, "Format" then "Background" and then "Sound", I understand that OE does not recognize mp3 and some other fomats, and therefore I cannot send them in those formats. It does accept them in .WAV .AIFF .SND .AU .AIF. AIFC etc.
The problem is when I convert the mp3 format into the WAV or AIFF or other formats the file expands from mp3s 3.5 MBs to .wavs 40MBs and over and its to large to send. Note that I do have the " Rich Text (HTML)" button checked, and also the "Send pictures with message" checked.
When I do try to send embedded sound in mp3 format I get a message that says" One or more pictures in this message could not be found. When you send this message the pictures will not be included. Do you still wish to send this message" and when I send in WAV format it takes forever and the recipient still can't play the file as windows media player does't recognize it.
If you can help I'd be much appreciative. Thank you!!

Just saw this so if may be too long ago to help you. There is a program
that converts mp3's to wav and you can choose
the level of compression thus making a smaller file. It is dBpowerAmp. It
used to be free. Now it is free to try and I
think $15.00 to buy and well worth it. After you have converted the file to
wav you can then further cut the file down
by using the Sound Recorder that you will find on most computers I think.
Hope this helps.

Hi Mario,
I have been away living at a motel as we were hit with an ice storm that
zapped our
power for 10 days.....So very glad that the dBpowerAmp worked for you.
I find it to be a great program.
You are most welcome and warm regards.
